Flat Motifs
The appearance of a plaque can be enhanced by the use of motifs. They can also help to express
beliefs, ideas and feelings in a way that may not be possible in words.
There are two types of motifs:
Flat and Bas Relief
> Flat Motif
These motifs are created in our design software. The surface is linished to
the same height and appearance of the inscription letters.
> Bas Relief Motif
These are created by our sculptor in a three dimensional shape. The irregular surface is highlighted in bronze on
the plaque providing a motif with depth and perspective.
Flat Motifs can be positioned anywhere on the plaque and the size can be varied infinitely in any orienatation.
The size of the motif is specified in millimeters by the largest of the vertical or horizontal dimensions.
A minimum size of 40mm may apply to some more complex flat motifs.
Phoenix Foundry has a database containing in excess of 2000 motifs. Others can be designed from
scratch or from client supplied artwork.
Some motifs in our data base may be protected by copyright, permission to use them
from the copyright owner may be required. Normally, permission is granted for memorial use.
