Inscriptions
Many options are available to design the inscription on Phoenix Foundry bronze plaques.
> Fonts
While numerous fonts are available, those in common use for bronze plaques include:
Cheltenham " : 1 2 3 4 )
Times New Roman " : 1 2 3 4 )
Helvetica " : 1 2 3 4 )
Century Schoolbook " : 1 2 3 4 )
Other fonts should be discussed with Phoenix Foundry staff before selection as they may be unsuitable
for casting in bronze.
> Font Size
This is represented by the height of letters in Points or Millimeters. In the Phoenix design system
conversion is approximately 1mm = 4 points.
The minimum font size that can reliably be used on a bronze plaque is 16 points (4mm)
Font size should be selected with the size of the plaque in mind.
> Font Style Options
Regular Bold Italic Bold Italic
> Character Spacing
Our compositors will use character spacing tools to achieve the optimum inscription layout. As shown
in the below examples of Normal, Condensed and Expanded.

the layout of the plaque for approval.
